摘要: Glycosylation is the most complex form of protein PTMs. Affected proteins may carry dozens glycosylation sites with tens to hundreds glycan residues attached every site. Glycosylated have many important functions in biology, from cellular organismal levels, being involved cell-cell signaling, cell adhesion, immune response, host-pathogen interactions, and development growth. Glycosylation, however, expands biological functional diversity at expense a tremendous increase structural heterogeneity. Aberrant surface proteins, as well their detectable fingerprint plasma samples, has been associated cancer, inflammatory degenerative diseases, congenital disorders glycosylation. Therefore, there are on-going efforts directed toward developing new technologies approaches for sequencing high-throughput analysis glycosylated samples simultaneous characterization both moieties. This work aimed primarily pinpointing challenges large-scale glycoproteins latest developments glycoproteomic research, focus on recent advancements (2011-2012) microcolumn separations MS detection.
