摘要: Estrogen receptors (ERs) mediate many sexual dimorphisms in the neuroendocrine system and behavior. We examined consequences of loss functional estrogen receptor beta (ERbeta) on two sexually differentiated neural responses to estrogen. In wild type (WT) male mice, but not females, estradiol (E(2)) treatment decreased alpha immunoreactive (ERalpha-ir) cell numbers arcuate nucleus (ARC), preoptic area (POA), ventromedial (VMN). These sex differences were reversed ERbeta knockout (ERbetaKO) mice. Castrated ERbetaKOs did show any change ERalpha-ir number after E(2) treatment. Yet, ovariectomized ERbetaKOs. Estradiol increased progesterone (PR-ir) WT female VMN POA, no was noted brains castrates. ERbetaKO mice opposite relationship found, PR-ir male, female, brains. Our results that influences several dimorphic Moreover data clearly can modulate expression ERalpha.
