摘要: ABSTRACT There are two subgroups of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), A and B, within each subgroup, isolates further divided into clades. Several years ago, multiple subgroup B which contained a duplication 60 nucleotides in the glycoprotein (G) gene were described. These given new clade designation BA based on site isolation, Buenos Aires, Argentina. RSV strains have since become predominant circulating viruses. We hypothesized that duplicated region G serves to enhance function life cycle. generated recombinant viruses express consensus or lacking (G Δdup ). determined functions during attachment cells. Additionally, we showed vitro , containing has fitness advantage compared without duplication. Our data demonstrate strain protein augments fitness. IMPORTANCE Respiratory (RSV) is an important pathogen for infants there no vaccine. Different circulate from year year, predominating change over time. Subgroup with emerged then became dominant genotype. found harboring bound more efficiently cells was fit than work advances mechanism natural mutation.
