Electronic and structural properties of transition-metal carbide and nitride surfaces

摘要: Abstract Findings concerning the electronic and structural properties of clean surfaces transition-metal carbides nitrides are reviewed. Topics treated are: investigations occupied unoccupied bulk band structure occurrence surface vacancy-induced states, chemical shifts in core electron level binding energies, relaxations/reconstructions on low-index vacancy concentration gradients region. A considerable amount information these topics has been collected to date both experimental theoretical investigations. These results summarized discussed. The also show, however, that much remains be done before a detailed systematic knowledge about their interrelation achieved for this class compounds.
