摘要: line grid in Norway is expected to increase loss and fragmentation of wildlife habitat. The public road network also expanding. However, power rights-of-way (cleared areas under lines) roadside edge vegetation can provide attractive feeding opportunities for moose (Alces alces). While some land owners wish maintain high densities selling hunting licenses, others are concerned about damage forest or the risk moosevehicle collisions. disturbance attraction potential ROW roads therefore substantial interest. We applied a step selection function on GPS relocation data 58 individuals expecting that central-grid lines avoided less than based their differential potential. greater avoidance open habitats because these do not shield from disturbance, winter when state energetic deficit by female females may respond more strongly towards disturbance. we found no evidence avoidance, did observe close roads. seasonal gender-specific differences existed. detect habitats. These results will help develop guidelines routing through different habitat types minimize while balancing interests conservationists. Comparative effects alces)
