摘要: Abstract The main aim of this work was the development chemical activated carbon (AC) method from specific wood biomass, i.e., Eucalyptus camaldulensis sawdust (ECS), and AC is proposed as a promising alternative treatment for hazardous Cr(VI) aqueous solution. ECS waste carbonized in two stages, i.e. 170 °C 60 min, followed by 500 120 min under continuous steam nitrogen gas, rated an efficient with H3PO4 activation (>80% removal). Finally, carbon-Eucalyptus (AC-ECS) selected batch column reactor studies different influencing parameters, such contact time, pH, temperature, initial metal concentration, particle size, bed height were optimized. AC-ECS characterized through analysis SEM, EDX, FTIR, BET. adsorption found to be highly pH-dependent, 87% at pH 3.0. mechanism experimental maximum predicted capacities 104 125 mg g−1, respectively, best described Langmuir isotherm (R2 = 0.999) pseudo-second-order kinetics 0.999). study showed improvement breakthrough curve time 5595 12,270 respective increase 5 15 cm, respectively. Column data well fitted depth service model. Current indicate that freshwater contamination can managed upscaling
