Agricultural University Institution Building in Brazil: Successes, Problems, and Lessons for Other Countries

摘要: Brazil has been very successful in developing institutions of higher education for its agricultural sciences. Undergraduate and graduate programs have proliferated since the sixties. Financial other types support came from many national international sources.' By most measures performance, these Brazilian performed well. However, late 1980s university real salaries eroded universities experienced difficulties paying recurrent costs infrastructure developed during period USAID financial (196378). This paper examines successes programs, especially with regard to training faculty development programs. The model research is differentiated land grant model, need a new applied projected. Then relevance this experience countries Sub-Saharan Africa onsidered. Finally, some concluding observations are made.
