摘要: The in-vitro activity of a range essential oils, including tea tree oil, against the yeast candida was examined. Of 24 oils tested by agar dilution method Candida albicans ATCC 10231, three did not inhibit C. at highest concentration tested, which 2.0% (v/v) oil. Sandalwood oil had lowest MIC, inhibiting 0.06%. Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) investigated for 81 isolates and 33 non-albicans isolates. By broth microdilution method, minimum 90% both species 0.25% (v/v). killing 0.5% species. Fifty-seven were sensitivity to method; 0.5%. Tests on intra-vaginal products showed these have MICs fungicidal concentrations comparable those non-formulated indicating that contained in has retained its anticandidal activity. These data indicate some are active spp., suggesting they may be useful topical treatment superficial infections.
