Safety of outpatient cardiac catheterizations

摘要: Abstract Since 1979 most of the cardiac catheterizations at investigators' institution have been performed as outpatient procedures. All cardiac, over a 66-month period were analyzed. A total 3,071 (83% all catheterizations) performed. The percutaneous femoral technique was used in 98% Most patients (79%) had both right and left-sided catheterization coronary angiography, which showed significant artery disease (70.4%). Only 13.6% study results normal. Thirty-four (1.1%) major complications, including 4 deaths (0.13%). Seventy (2.3%) admitted for observation only. More than 96% did not complication discharged same day. Thus, can be safely, with potential reduction hospital costs better utilization medical beds.
