摘要: Aging alters ion regulation in brain tissue. This article describes methods useful for studying such age-related changes the rat hippocampal slice preparation. Topics considered include (a) selection of appropriate age groups rats aging studies, (b) a description preparing and maintaining slices, (c) measurement intracellular pH with H+-sensitive dye carboxy-SNARF-1, (d) extracellular K+ cation-selective microelectrodes.
