摘要: The objective of this study was to examine the effect dietary n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplementation rams on semen quality and subsequent sperm function liquid stored semen. Mature proven fertility were individually housed blocked according breed, body weight, condition score randomly allocated within block one two treatments (N = 7 per treatment). Rams offered a base diet hay concentrate, with concentrate enriched either: (1) saturated palmitic (CON) or (2) high PUFA fish oil (FO) supplements. Both lipid supplements added at 2% (wt/wt) total as fed both partially rumen-protected. animals their respective diets for 9 weeks blood samples collected 0 (pre-experimental), 4, 9, relative initial allocation (week 0), measurement plasma concentration acids, metabolites, insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) insulin. Semen from each ram (on day in week) 5, 7, 8, ejaculate assessed volume, wave motion, sperm, after which it diluted skim milk-based extender 4 °C. A second centrifuged, frozen analysis. sample 24, 48, 72 hours collection progressive linear ability penetrate artificial mucus, resist peroxidation (at 24 48 only) using thiobarbituric reactive substances assay. There no concentrations any metabolites measured, however, there by week interaction IGF-1 (P < 0.05). This manifested FO supplemented having higher compared control treatment 0.05), but not earlier sampling dates. Compared pre-experimental values, increased PUFAs 3.1-fold decreased n-6 1.84-fold. Consequently, ratio FO-supplemented 0.001). Dietary eicosapentaenoic 2.7-fold 0.05) leading 1.5-fold increase same period. Ejaculates yielded difference between other parameters including peroxidation. In conclusion, successfully content has limited effects
