Non-Maxwellian electron distributions and continuum X-ray emission in inverse Bremsstrahlung heated plasmas

摘要: The heating of a completely ionized plasma by inverse Bremsstrahlung absorption (IB) is studied numerically integrating the time varying kinetic equation for electrons, and resulting distribution functions are used to calculate continuum X-ray emission. shape determined competition between IB electron-electron collisions, and, in all uniform simulations, authors find that distributions well fitted formula Cmexp(-( nu / m)m) where m 2 5. They dependence on alpha =Z2 osc/ th2, Z atomic number, osc oscillation velocity laser field th thermal velocity: m( )=2+3/(1+1.66/ 0.724). More importantly, realistic case space dependent simulation Be heated Nd laser, including heat flow ion motion, this fit remains valid electron densities below 0.75 Nc (with constant m), although other effects come into play closer critical surface.
