摘要: Kennewick Man, referred to as the Ancient One by Native Americans, is a male human skeleton discovered in Washington state (USA) 1996 and initially radiocarbon dated 8,340-9,200 calibrated years before present (BP). His population affinities have been subject of scientific debate legal controversy. Based on an initial study cranial morphology it was asserted that Man neither American nor closely related claimant Plateau tribes Pacific Northwest, who claimed ancestral relationship requested repatriation under Graves Protection Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The morphological analysis important judicial decisions not therefore NAGPRA did apply. Instead repatriation, additional studies remains were permitted. Subsequent craniometric affirmed be more circumpacific groups such Ainu Polynesians than he modern Americans. In order resolve Man's ancestry affiliations, we sequenced his genome ∼1× coverage compared worldwide genomic data including for Polynesians. We find closer Americans any other worldwide. Among whom genome-wide are available comparison, several seem descended from Confederated Tribes Colville Reservation (Colville), one five claiming Man. revisit analyses that, opposed comparisons, possible basis affiliate specific contemporary groups. conclude based genetic comparisons shows continuity with North over at least last eight millennia.
