摘要: The purpose was to investigate efficiency as related the work transmission and metabolic cost of various extravehicular activity (EVA) tasks during simulated microgravity (whole body water immersion) using three space suits. Two new prototype station suits, AX-5 MKIII, are pressurized at 57.2 kPa were tested concurrently with operationally used 29.6 shuttle suit. Four male astronauts asked perform a fatigue trial on four upper extremity exercises which rate output measured calculated in each activities selected simulate actual EVA tasks. test article an underwater dynamometry system secured by foot restraints. All data acquired, calculated, stored computerized indirect calorimetry connected suit ventilation/gas supply control console. During testing, steady state could be evaluated well transmitted dynamometer. Mechanical then for astronaut performing movement.
