Effect of carbon on mechanically induced self-sustaining reactions (MSR) in TiO2–Al–C mixtures

摘要: Abstract Mixtures of titanium dioxide, aluminium powder and activated carbon with different mass ratios were prepared milled for times. The amount used increased from 0% to 100% that required formation TiC study the effect on initiation a self - sustaining mechanochemical reaction in TiO2-Al-C mixtures. XRD results indicated by increasing fraction products changed Al3Ti Al2O3 include amounts Al2O3. Results also could be initiated during milling but only samples high carbon. In sample molar ratio TiO2:Al:C = 3:4:3, between raw materials was complete within 5 h time when detected.
