Sustainable Coastal Development Indicator System Studies in Latvia

摘要: This paper describes how an appropriate characterization of preconditions and trends for decision-making towards the sustainable development coastal territories in Latvia determines need further studies. Analysis framework content establishment as well data gathering calculation approaches (SCD) indicators system creation, functioning future challenges has been carried out based on a specific set elaborated at European Union (EU) level, application experience related EU Interreg IIIC Deduce project and, particularly, test run Latvia, whilst also including following practice evaluation by municipalities other main actors field. An initial SCD indicator proposal is elaborated, recognizing typical features nature-environmental socio-economic conditions, spatial scale selective differences identifying institutions to be involved. The distinguishes 24 indicators, ones assessment human resources integrated management capacities, with this constituting additional most important sector goal. These several integrative shall provide information sustainability its management, particularly regard efficiency communication process. However, testing elaborations are required secure awareness, public participation, municipal planning practice, integrate together well-tested bottom-up or participatory designed application.
