摘要: A 1-year double-blind placebo-controlled study on the effects of diuretic withdrawal was conducted a group 62 previously well-controlled, mildly hypertensive patients. Data were collected blood pressure (BP), biochemical laboratory values, and subjective reports side-effects. Twenty-six percent placebo subjects 3% active treatment reached preset criteria for return hypertension (reverters). The average systolic diastolic pressures all placebo-treated patients who did not revert showed statistically significant increases. BP control quickly reestablished in reverters by restarting therapy. No substantial differences side-effects reported between groups, changes those consistent with known metabolic thiazide thiazide-like diuretics. This much lower reversion rate after than other investigators. It also increases revert. Long-term therapy retains its effectiveness responsive mild patients, potentially offering protection against increased risks mortality morbidity associated even slight elevations BP. Withdrawal diuretics cannot be recommended without use equally effective interventions to maintain optimum control.
