Characterization of the humanTCAM1Ppseudogene and its activation by a potential dual promoter-enhancer: Comparison with a protein-coding mouse orthologue

摘要: Abstract TCAM1P is a unitary pseudogene, which was disabled since the human–mouse divergence. Here we found that specifically expressed in human testis, with different cell type-specificity from mouse Tcam1, and characterized its transcripts. At locus, multifunctional dual promoter–enhancer (DPE) controls expression of Tcam1 Smarcd2 genes. The corresponding sequence to potentially function as DPE, although molecular mechanism mouse. Interestingly, change DPE activity occurred before pseudogenization TCAM1P. These data suggest presence genome for first time, provide an important model evolutionary changes regulatory pseudogene.
