摘要: Abstract Background It has been suggested that periodontal disease (PD) was associated with an increased risk for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), although evidence is inconclusive. Purpose We first sought to prospectively evaluate the relationship of PD CVD and all-cause mortality using a national representative sample in United States. Methods The study population consisted 10,849 participants who were 30 years or older received examination from NHANES III follow-up (1988–2006). deaths ascertained National Death Index records. causes death defined International Classification Disease coding (ICD-10). severity categorized as non-PD, modest severe based on clinical attachment loss pocket depth. Results Of sample, 3105 561 identified cases, respectively. After up 18 follow-up, there total 2894 deaths, which 1225 CVD. levels inflammation markers (high sensitivity C-reactive protein, white cell count fibrinogen) significantly higher men compared without ( p Conclusions There appears be prospective associations between aged 30–64 years. Inflammation may one possible pathway link
