摘要: Agriculture constitutes a dominant land cover worldwide, and rural landscapes under extensive farming practices acknowledged due to high biodiversity levels. The High Nature Value farmland (HNVf) concept has been highlighted in the EU environmental policies their inherent potential help characterize direct financial support European where nature and/or conservation value is dependent on continuation of specific low-intensity systems. Assessing extent HNV by necessity relies availability both ecological systems' data, difficulties associated with making such assessments have widely described across Europe. A spatially explicit framework data collection, building out from local administrative units, recently suggested as means addressing difficulties. This manuscript tests relevance proposed approach, describes case study area northern Portugal, discusses approach better inform implementation development policies. Synthesis applications: novel (combining use/cover, data) provide more accurate efficient mapping monitoring farmlands tested at level Portugal. considered constitute step forward toward precise targeting for agri-environment schemes, it allowed discrimination areas within landscape that higher conservation.
