摘要: OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to examine the separate and combined effects tobacco biomasssmoke exposure on pulmonary histopathology in rats.INTRODUCTION: In addition smoking, indoor pollution developing countries contributes developmentof respiratory diseases.METHODS: Twenty-eight adult rats were divided into four groups as follows: control group (Group I, no totobacco or biomass smoke), exposed smoke II), III), andcombined IV). After six months all weresacrificed. Lung tissue samples examined under light microscopy. severity pathological changes wasscored.RESULTS: Group II differed from I histopathological alterations except intraparenchymal vascularthrombosis. There statistically significant difference between subjectsexposed exclusively II) those with smoke(Group observed IV found be more severe than insubjects III).DISCUSSION: Chronic caused an increase types lunginjury.CONCLUSION: Exposure cigarette serious damage system, particularly withconcomitant smoke.KEYWORDS: Inhalation Toxicology; Pathology; Pulmonary Disease; Rats; Smoke.
