摘要: Leishmaniasis, an endemic parasitosis that leads to chronic cutaneous, mucocutaneous or visceral lesions, is part of those diseases, which still requires improved control tools. Propolis has shown activities against different bacteria, fungi, and parasites. In this study we investigated the effect four ethanolic extracts typified propolis collected in Brazilian states, on Leishmania amazonensis performing assays with promastigote forms, extracellular amastigotes, infected peritoneal macrophages. Ethanolic all samples (BRG, BRPG, BRP-1, BRV) were capable reduce parasite load as monitored by percentage macrophages number intracellular BRV sample called red propolis, state Alagoas, containing high concentration prenylated benzophenones compounds, was most active extract L. amazonensis. The anti-Leishmania increased a time dependent manner. treatment proved be non-toxic macrophage cultures. Since at 25 µg/ml reduced while presented no direct toxic promastigotes it suggested constituents intensify mechanism activation leading killing Our results demonstrate, for first time, infection macrophages, encourage further studies natural compound animal models leishmaniasis.
