摘要: Antibodies were determined against five synthetic peptides (epitopes) of HIV-1 p17 in the sera an immunologically and clinically well-characterized cohort (N = 292) seronegative seropositive high-risk homosexual men, i.v. drug abusers (IVDA), AIDS patients. The peptides, representing entire protein sequence were: HGP-33 (aa 1-33), HGP-19 34-52), HGP-35 51-85), HGP-30 85-114), HGP-17 ala 114-131). presence one or more peptide-specific antibodies all p17-positive subjects indicated that contain B-cell epitopes. No found heterosexual controls, asymptomatic but antibody-negative study subjects. Significant differences antibody recognition profiles to peptide epitopes among various groups. A significantly higher proportion IVDA had specific 114-131), 1-33) compared homosexuals. epitope-specific responses reflected clinical status HIV-1-infected subjects, declined nondetectable levels as patient progressed ARC/AIDS. This decline preceded by several months reduction titer intact p24 proteins.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
