摘要: Objective To quantify changes in biomechanical stability and stiffness within the equine carpus after removal of 50%, 80%, 100% second metacarpal bone (MC2). Study Design In vitro study. Methods Cadaveric forelimbs (n = 16) were evaluated. Intact constructs loaded axial compression from 0 to 5000 N + torsion (5000 ± 20°) for 5 cycles. This was repeated MC2. The primary outcome variables compressive torsional carpus. Relative kinematic motion also evaluated between carpal (C2) radial (RC), C2 third (MC3) (C3). Results A significant decrease found Compressive did not change MC2 removal. A increase relative rotation around z-axis (rotation long axis) observed versus MC3 C3 when removed as compared 0% No difference RC detected. Conclusions The results reported here suggest that is significantly decreased only complete resection
