Early morphological changes following gamma irradiation. A comparison of human pituitary tumours and human acoustic neurinomas (schwannomas).

摘要: The in vitro system was used to study early ultrastructural effects following gamma irradiation of human pituitary adenomas and neurinomas with 30 70 Gy single doses, respectively. acoustic neurinoma cells showed a large number intracellular myelin figures vesiculation cytoplasm. tumour vacuolization cytoplasm cell organelles. Occasionally, electron-dense cytoplasmic inclusion bodies fibrillar substructure occurred. differences between the two types tumours irradiation-induced morphological changes may indicate their biochemical structure metabolic activities. findings after specimens from all four were rather similar same length time but structural alterations differed considerably individual tumours. dose caused more rapidly-occurring than dose.
