摘要: Wolf predation on elk was studied in Banff National Park, Alberta. Overall, wolves took a higher proportion of adult males and calves than occurred the population. However, encounter as herds rather individuals, when herd is considered to be unit available prey, are highly selected for compared with both females. Adult killed by were older those road or railway, but simple model showed that this result can caused bias obtaining population age distribution from mortality source. Jaw lengths antler characteristics wolf kills did not differ rail kills. elk, calves, had lower reserves marrow fat railway.
