摘要: This study aims at increasing our understanding of the regional wind climate in Sweden. Spatial and temporal patterns surface winds are presented for years 1999-2000. Annual mean speeds range between 2 5 m/s with high values exposed mountainous sites on islands off coast. Combining speed direction into velocities shows that flow conditions stronger more coherent space southern Sweden than central northern The spatial scale, defined as distance stations when correlation drops to similar 0.37, was determined by pairwise correlations all possible station pairs. Scales from 38 530 km 40 830 depending region. They tend be smaller Sweden, where pronounced relief has a larger influence local conditions. strength timing annual diurnal cycle have been estimated each station. Amplitudes greater correlate generally well speeds. Monthly peak winter but other seasons remaining regions. In winter, weaker pressure gradients over surface-near temperature inversions contribute winds. Diurnal cycles vary summer winter. Compared last normal period (1961-1990), 1999-2000 is characterized increased occurrence westerly southerly geostrophic flow. Copyright (C) 2005 Royal Meteorological Society.
