摘要: This is a report of multi-institutional study all patients with osteosarcoma who were seen at 13 comprehensive cancer centers from July 1, 1977, to December 31, 1982. Follow-up extended 9 years; minimum 3 years was obtained for greater than 90% the patients. All considered, but only those tissue confirmation had least part their first course treatment one institutions included. There 543 In search prognostic indicators, 38 patient characteristics, three categories, and an institutional variable studied. A combination nine these constituted best indicator survival. They morphology (two parts), site primary spread tumor, grade size duration symptoms, weight loss 4.5 kg (10 lb), swelling site, lytic appearance. Unexpectedly, not indicators score developed in which coefficients Cox regression (step-down) method. Each (S) observed survival time that together provided expected risk death patient. Although this randomized study, treatments compared before after adjusting characteristics identified as prognostic. Three differed little: surgery alone, plus chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, radiotherapy followed 1-4 months by surgery. Patients amputations resections similar rates, progression rates widely. However, when adjusted difference disappeared. Complete (if existed within surgical margins) no better incomplete beyond respect but, would be expected, complete much disease progression.
