摘要: Abstract Trophozoites and cysts of an Acanthamoeba were repeatedly isolated from the corneal scrapings a patient suffering acute ulceration right eye. The ameba was cloned cultivated axenically in proteose peptone-yeast extract-glucose medium. At later date organism identified as A. polyphaga on basis its morphologic characteristics, especially those cysts. Experimental studies vitro interactions this with monkey kidney tissue culture (Vero line) pathogenicity to mice indicated that it low virulent strain. When large numbers amebae (25,000+) inoculated into Vero cell cultures, cytopathic effects (CPE) noticed within 5 6 days. CPE consisted shrinkage, nuclear pycnosis, discontinuity sheet, totally destroyed 8 10 20,000+ instilled intranasally each 20 2-week-old mice, only 1 mouse died, 28th day. Amebae brain dead mouse, trophozoites also demonstrated sections. they failed kill for at least month; however, when 10,000+ intracerebrally, died days, exhibiting symptoms primary meningoencephalitis.
