摘要: Dispositional optimism has been linked in previous studies to better health outcomes. We sought examine the independent associations of dispositional and depressive symptoms with physical mental functioning a cohort healthy middle-aged older men. The study was conducted among 659 subjects Veterans Administration (VA) Normative Aging Study. symptomatology were measured 1991 1990, respectively, by Life Orientation Test Center for Epidemiologic Studies--Depression Scale (CES-D). dependent variables, well-being, 1992 Medical Outcomes Study Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36). In multivariate regression models, associated higher levels general perceptions, vitality, health, lower bodily pain, but not functioning, social or role limitations due emotional problems. Depressive reduced across all SF-36 domains. findings depression statistically significant after mutual adjustment models. Optimism are predictors functional status aging
