Dealing with the loss of a resident: An analysis of burnout rates in a reduced complement training program.

摘要: BACKGROUND Residents in all fields of medicine experience high levels burnout and less job-related satisfaction due to the stress experienced during training. Reduced complement residency classes often increased workloads need compensate for fewer number classmates. OBJECTIVE The goal this study was examine whether reduced size higher burnout. METHODS Maslach Burnout Inventory Survey distributed orthopaedic residents at our institution four consecutive years. Emotional exhaustion≥27 depersonalization≥10 correlate with At institution, two were lost their second year Group 1 (n = 56) consisted reduced-size classes, while group 2 (n = 60) full classes.
