摘要: A novel non-contact micro- and nanomanipulation method is proposed. This method, Dipole Field Manipulation (DFM), exploits the distortion of a uniform magnetic field induced around ferromagnetic cores. While this can generate strong gradients to induce pulling forces on manipulated object, direction be used torques. paper presents first insight DFM capabilities control possibilities. We show that by varying orientation strength field, has potential achieve effective manipulation in up six degrees freedom. Using conventional electromagnetic coils as source mobile core, reach 1–2 T/m or more whole workspace. Such provide fast directional force torque variation capabilities, allow an easy access workspace for feedback visualization core positioning. concept 6-DOF system Results preliminary experiment where particle was moved 0.5×1 mm rectangular path demonstrate feasibility sufficient any direction.
