Children’s strategies for coping : links with social anxiety and depressive symptoms

摘要: Cognitive and behavioural theories of social anxiety depression provide clear explanations for the links between these conditions strategies children use to cope with peer conflict situations. However, empirical research in area has left several unresolved issues, warranting further investigation if we are understand more fully the links coping emotional adjustment. This programme was designed develop a comprehensive measure children‟s coping, particularly the context stressors, examine specific and social over time. In series seven studies, reported four papers, total 833 primary secondary school completed measures anxiety, depression, a sociometric survey, as well goals appraisals. In Paper 1, seven distinct were revealed across several interpersonal situations that were related feelings distinct ways, meaningfully mapped onto differences mainstream school sample pupils with emotional and difficulties. 2, six subscales identified in Paper 1 confirmed ways differentially associated with depression.
