The white-tailed deer ( Odocoileus virginianus ) is an important, sustainable-use species in Mexico; 14 subspecies are widely distributed throughout the Mexican territory. criteria for classifying based on morphological features their geographical range; however, complete genetic characterization of has not been established. objective present work to report mitogenomes 9 from Mexico and identify unique variations. Typical vertebrate structures (i.e., 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA 2 rRNA genes) were observed studied subspecies. greatest numbers polymorphisms identified D-loop, ND4, ND5, CYTB/COI, ATP6, COIII genes. Phylogenetic analyses showed that southern southeastern distinct central northern subspecies; distances also between these groups. These subspecies-specific variations could be useful designing a strategy genetically characterize subspecies.
