摘要: Toxoplasma gondii and other apicomplexan parasites contain a peculiar non-photosynthetic plastid called the apicoplast, which is essential for their survival. The localization of autophagy-related protein ATG8 to apicoplast in several species life stages has recently been described, we have shown this proper inheritance complex into daughter cells during cell division. Although mechanism behind association T. related canonical conjugation system leading autophagosome formation, its singular role seems independent from initial catabolic purpose autophagy. Here also discuss further functional evolution innovative adaptations autophagy machinery maintain organelle parasite
