摘要: Distance sampling using line transects has become a well-known method for estimating densities of both large and small mammals in relatively open habitats, although it not yet been reported smaller (<10 kg) southern Africa. In 2007 2008 we used distance to estimate numbers springhares (Pedetes capensis), Cape hares (Lepus capensis) steenbok (Raphicerus campestris) on farms near Kimberley, South Surveys were conducted Benfontein Game Farm, whereas surveys occurred nearby small-livestock farms. We derived density estimates with low 95% confidence intervals coefficients variation all three species, only moderate time spent the field by researchers. Our results suggest is very useful efficient technique springhare, hare populations homogeneous habitats.
