摘要: Summary 1 The invasion of habitats by non-native plant and animal species is a global phenomenon with potentially grave consequences for ecological, economic, social systems. Unfortunately, to date, the study invasions has been primarily anecdotal resistant generalization. 2 Here, we use insights from experiments long-term monitoring studies vegetation propose new theory in which fluctuation resource availability identified as key factor controlling invasibility, susceptibility an environment non-resident species. The mechanistic quantitative nature leading variety testable predictions. 3 We conclude that elusive process arises fact it depends upon conditions enrichment or release have causes but occur only intermittently and, result invasion, must coincide invading propagules.
