Surgical Management of Spontaneous Pneumothorax in Patients with Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome

摘要: Spontaneous pneumothorax has been reported with increasing frequency in patients acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia. In the past year, we treated 4 spontaneous pneumothorax. All of them were closed tube thoracostomy, 1 patient bilateral apical cysts eventually required thoracotomies pleurectomies. Only had an uncomplicated hospital course. The remaining prolonged air leaks, 2 synchronous pneumothoraces. Pneumothorax appears to be associated P. We recommend thoracostomy as initial treatment symptomatic patients. Pleurectomy for leaks persisting longer than seven days can safely performed fit thoractomy.
