Do the demands of the global forces shape local agenda? An analysis of lifelong learning policies and practice in China

摘要: Lifelong learning has become a global phenomenon that significantly reshaped the conventional foundation of national education systems. Learning experienced an evolution can be identified in two generations: it first emerged 1970s and then quickly gained significance prevalence by 1990s. There is general consensus rise spread lifelong concept 1990s was propelled intensifying process globalization, which also greatly shaped emphasis agendas are captured concept. Correspondingly, dominant albeit disputed trend literature portrays as serving knowledge economy. Based on review discourse forces affect learning, this study explores how policies practices China influenced globalization. It finds adopted broader than those required forces. This serves step towards filling current research gap: there lack studies exploring East Asia, while most existing topic focused Western countries.
