摘要: This paper presents the concept and design of a novel roadway microgrid. It operates as smart microgrid that optimally utilizes public right-of-way infrastructure to provide cost-effective, highly efficient, reliable wind/solar electric power production, distribution, storage, utilization. The fundamental unit is called energy-plus roadway/traffic signal light (EPRTL), which contains grid-connected hybrid generation system installed on pole for clean production. term “energy-plus” stands annual energy consumption less than generated will be consumed locally by light; excess stored in batteries, distributed microgrid, supplied utility main grid. deployment proposed dramatically change role from an consumer producer, leading roadways. not only reduce agency operating costs but also generate new revenues Highway Trust Fund. use renewable promote development green
