摘要: Proposals have been made to deregulate the power generation function of electric utilities. But unregulated generators would be spatial oligopolists, because transmission costs insulate them from competition distant producers. The purpose this analysis is estimate degree which able exercise market power. This accomplished by calculating price equilibria for a hypothetical deregulated in New York State. Two types are calculated: Nash/Bertrand equilibria, representing lower bound prices, and limit pricing, defining an upper bound. Equilibria obtained years 1980 2000.
