摘要: OBJECTIVES Anecdotal reports and qualitative research suggests that fatigue is a common, but often overlooked, accompaniment of hearing loss which negatively affects quality life. However, systematic examining the relationship between limited. In this study, authors examined relationships various domains vigor using standardized validated measures. Relationships subjective ratings multidimensional social emotional consequences were also explored. DESIGN Subjective assessed profile mood states symptom inventory-short form. To assess impact participants completed, depending on their age, handicap inventory for elderly or adults. Responses obtained from 149 adults (mean age = 66.1 years, range 22 to 94 years), who had scheduled test and/or aid selection at Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center Audiology clinic. These data used explore audiometric demographic (i.e., gender) factors, fatigue, scores. RESULTS Compared with normative data, seeking help difficulties in study reported significantly less more fatigue. Reports severe vigor/fatigue problems (ratings exceeding means by ±1.5 standard deviations) increased sample compared data. Regression analyses, adjustments gender, revealed percepts regardless domain, not strongly associated degree loss. similar analyses controlling showed strong association measures (multidimensional form scores) (hearing elderly/adults scores). CONCLUSIONS Adults are likely experience problems; surprisingly, risk appears unrelated negative psychosocial across all domains, vigor. Additional needed define pathogenesis loss-related identify factors may modulate mediate (e.g., cochlear implant use) its impact.
