摘要: The effects of monensin on the energy metabolism dairy cows in early lactation were investigated a large clinical trial that was randomized and double-blinded. A total 1010 Holstein first heifers allocated to receive controlled-release capsule or placebo at 3 wk prior expected calving date. Treatments across 25 farms located near Guelph, Ontario, Canada. Serum samples obtained time treatment administration 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 postcalving analyzed for β-hydroxybutyrate, glucose, aspartate aminotransferase, urea, protein, calcium, phosphorus. Cows also assigned body condition score each sample obtained. Monensin significantly reduced serum β-hydroxy-butyrate concentrations postpartum raised glucose during 1 2 lactation.
