摘要: An animal model was developed to determine if blood flow the respiratory muscles limits oxygen delivery and thus work output during inspiratory resistance. With incremental increases in rate of breathing 15 times resting level, diaphragm rose exponentially 26-fold. Blood other a few expiratory increased much smaller extent, often only at greater loads. Cardiac pressure did not change. Arterial-venous content difference across became maximal low rates thereafter all higher were accomplished by increments flow. Oxygen consumption musculature calculated extraction with increasing less than increase total body each load. Hypoxemia acidosis occurred when animals inspired through highest resistance; even that observed previous resistances there no evidence shift anaerobic metabolsim lactate pyruvate levels. Respiratory failure appear be consequence insufficient this model.
