摘要: Sexual selection is recognized as an important evolutionary force in salmon. However, relatively little known about variation sexual pressures across salmon populations or the potential role of natural a driver adaptive mating patterns. Here, we examine behaviour and correlates reproductive success Chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) from Quinsam Little Qualicum rivers British Columbia, Canada — two for which have previously found evidence operating on major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes. In both populations, males courted females exhibited dominance towards other males, frequency each was positively associated with success. Males were more aggressive whom they would produce offspring low high MHC class II diversity, River higher diversity at I than expected. ...
