摘要: Abstract The oxidation of carbon prior to hydrogen gasification as a means enhancing methane formation rate is investigated. Carbon oxidized by HNO 3 and gasified in high-pressure differential reactor. Samples are analyzed x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for surface oxygen content before after pretreatment reaction. Results uncatalyzed show correlation between initial hydrogasification rate, but XPS results reveal that essentially no present on the during gasification. This indicates desorption groups from generates reactive sites at which occurs. These nascent arise acidic both fixed bulk carbon. In potassium carbonate-catalyzed gasification, enhances catalyzed much threefold. catalyst interacts with basic form formed regenerated continuously Analysis shows substantial gasification; high loadings 725°C Cls peak carbonate singly bound oxygen-carbon tentatively assigned M—O—C.
