摘要: Abstract Background Recommendations on breastfeeding under thiopurines are inconsistent due to limited data. Aim To assess the risk of infections in offspring breastfed by mothers receiving azathioprine (AZA) for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods Babies, who were from their treated either with or without AZA included a local pregnancy-registry. Women asked structured personal interview general development, infections, hospitalisations and vaccinations offspring. Results A group 11 taking (median 150mg/d) during pregnancy lactation another 12 patients using any immunosuppressive therapy 15 babies each median 6months 8months, respectively. Median age children at time was 3.3 4.7years, All showed age-appropriate mental physical development. Infections commonly seen childhood diseases. Similar rates observed most various between exposure breastfeeding. However, common cold more than two episodes/year conjunctivitis numerically often reported exposure. In an exploratory analysis no difference rate exposed (0.06 hospitalisations/patient year) versus non-exposed (0.12 year, p=0.8) Conclusion Our study which reports largest number suggests that does not increase infections.
