摘要: Objectives Kidney donation from a living donor to an unknown recipient has been legal in the UK since 2006. Yet there is little research into experiences of unspecified kidney donors (UKDs) interaction with health care systems. Design This article explores 14 UKDs recruited through four regional transplant co-ordinating centres England. At interview, they were invited share their stories and discuss antecedents, social, psychological processes involved. Interviews audio-taped transcribed. Methods Transcripts analysed using grounded theory approach employing constant comparison methodology. Themes emerging data named form categories organized around central focus research, forming analytical story UKDs' experiences. Results Two major emerged: ‘connected others’ ‘uneasy negotiations others’. ‘Connected encompasses motivations social consequences UKD. ‘Uneasy refer concerns conflicts that arose during process. Conclusions This study highlights importance relationships on process outcomes These report both intra- interpersonal benefits donation. The process, however, also created stress, conflicting messages about acceptability experienced personal lives interactions services.
