摘要: On the sandy soils in Southern Sahelian Zone, wind erosion owing to frequent short sand storms, especially at beginning of rainy season, is one constraints crop growth. Sand storms and their effects on millet burial growth were monitored during 1990 growing season International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) Center, Niamey, Niger. During accumulated captured 0.1 m above soil surface attained 1262 kg m−2 vertical sampler opening. Ninety per cent pockets sown with first rains covered 22 days after emergence was resown. single event, 384 trapped 40% all totally covered. Surviving plants from partially showed delays development. The maximum plant height leaf number lower a significant reduction area index. Grain yield unaffected nearly twice that which Protection measures against may have potential stabilize production Zone.
