摘要: Abstract Faidherbia albida is an important tree species in traditional agroforestry cropping systems of the Sahel. The enhanced crop growth under its canopy (the ‘albida effect’) has been attributed to increased soil fertility zone, improved microclimate, particularly relation plant/soil water relations, and fact that sheds leaves rainy season, which reduces shade allows crops grow. present studies demonstrate shade-induced reduction temperatures, at time establishment, contributes better these trees. Greater use reduce temperature benefit proposed. Vertical barriers were used vary surface by varying was exposed direct sunlight. Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum), sown this range environments, germinated grew best a partially shaded environment, but failed fully conditions; inversely related mean temperatures during seedling establishment. In separate, concurrent study, beginning Sabelian nearly leafless intercepted about half incoming radiation, resulted decrease up 10°C maximum 2cm depth (depending on position relative rain) establishment phase.
